Most insurance companies require vacant properties to be visited either once a week or fortnightly to check that the property remains secure.
Sherlock and Watson undertakes the following but not exhaustive vacant property inspection checklist.
Grounds & Gardens
Access gates – damage, lock integrity
Integrity of boundaries & fences
Storm damage to trees, fences, outbuildings
Integrity of out buildings
Fly tipping
Vandalism
Illegal parking, abandoned vehicles
Condition of garden / plants / ornaments and art
Outside of the building
Chimney, flashings, roof and guttering
Downpipes, flues, water butts
Windows, glazing and doors
Vandalism & tagging
Inside the building
Checking and securing all access points; doors and windows
Checking for water leaks and damage
Airing the building
Resetting alarm
Reporting
When required we will provide a full report on the VPI complete with photos. This digital report would then be uploaded to our clients email. In instances where appropriate we would also provide live reporting via Whats App or similar to demonstrate a particular occurrence which requires an immediate remedy.
Contrasting the above we also provide a very basic report in the form of “ All Correct – no problems found ” which is the usual requirement for most of our clients.
